What is PTSD?
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a condition that can occur after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal in which significant physical harm happened or was threatened. It can be very debilitating.
What are the symptoms of PTSD?
When any of the following last for more than a month then PTSD is diagnosed.
· ‘Flashback’ episodes or memories.
· Frightening thoughts, especially if exposed to events or objects reminiscent of the trauma.
· Sleep disturbance.
· Unexpected outbursts of anger.
How is PTSD treated?
Individual or group therapy, in addition to some medication, may be used in the treatment of PTSD. These options will help the person with PTSD to come to terms with and move on from the traumatic effects of their experience.
