With the many blush effects, there is a blush for every look. Casual no longer means dull.
Blush is an important tool in your makeup arsenal. It is part of the foundation that highlights your features without a showy exhibit. Should blush be worn even with a casual look? I think the answer is yes. There are many ways to apply blush. Depending on the color and application technique, you can create a casual or extreme look.
Why wear blush? When going to the office or the grocery store you are going to want a more casual look than if you were on your way to a club. Blush can be used along with foundation makeup to enhance your cheeks and key areas without showing that you are wearing it. The point in casual makeup is to make it look that you aren’t wearing any. Remember less is more.
Colors. For a casual look you will want to pick light colors. You can use a pinkish color if you want to add a little color. However, you can also use colors that are a little darker than your normal face powder to create shadows in the right places without letting them no you are wearing anything. For example, if you wear ivory you can take a little darker face powder and use apply it as a blush. The two tones will create just the right enhancements. Browns are great blushes for casual looks.
Areas. You don’t want to concentrate on one area if you are trying to achieve a casual look. There are certain areas that are enhanced by a little shadow. The nose, for example, can be made to appear narrow by adding blush in a long stroke on either side from your eye to just above the nostril. However, you would not want to do this if you already have a long, skinny nose. All faces can use a little blush around the outer edges. Finally, if you have a chubby face you will want to apply some in a long line from above your ear to the corner of your mouth, but keep it light and long.
Tools. For a casual look you will also want to use the right tools. Do not use the cream blushes that come in a tube and are applied directly or by your fingers. You will want to use a powder and either a blush or a powder puff. If you use a blush brush you want to get one that is the right size. A big brush that has longer bristles and is soft to the touch with give you an even and light touch of blush. If you use a puff, be careful to keep it light. There is also a new technique that makeup artists are now using to apply foundation and blush. The blush is applied through an air gun and can be used to make an extreme effect or a soft, casual look. It takes practice and is applied by a makeup artist but is even, easy and fast when done by the right person.
As you can see, with the many blush effects, there is a blush for every look. Casual no longer means dull. You can still enhance your features, while maintaining that natural look. The right blush color, in the right area, with the right tool is all it takes to create a great casual look.
