Instant Weight Loss Is A Myth

While we all love instant gratification there is unfortunately no way to have instant weight loss. It took years of bad eating habits and lack of exercise to put on the weight. It will take a little time to get it off as well. Of course you can lose it much faster than you gained it.

There are all kinds of diet programs out there that can help you get started. If you want to lose the weight permanently you are going to have to commit to some long term changes in your life style. This means eating healthier and getting some exercise every day. It is not really as bad as it sounds though. We will go over a couple of the changes that you will need to make to lose your weight and keep it off.

The first thing is your eating habits. When you first go on your diet there will be some rules for the food you eat and how much of it you can have. The diet is only a temporary thing to get you started losing the weight. After you have dropped the pounds you have to continue with some good eating habits so that you don’t just put the weight right back on.

First thing I want to talk about is skipping meals. This is actually counter-productive as far as losing weight and keeping it off. You should make sure that you are getting three healthy meals a day and eating snacks between meals if you get hungry. When you start skipping meals it may seem like you should be taking in less calories but it does not always work that way.

If your body is not getting food regularly it will begin to try and hoard the food that it does get. The way your body hoards food is by turning it into fat. Skipping meals can actually make you gain weight instead of lose it. You also tend to binge eat when you skip meals. After you let yourself go hungry for a while then the next time you eat you are far more likely to overdo it.

Snacking is a good way to keep the hunger pains down and keep from over eating at meal times. Eating healthy snacks like fruits, vegetables, and whole grain foods whenever you get hungry can actually help you lose weight. There is no reason to starve yourself. By eating some healthy snacks between meals then you make sure there is less room for the higher calorie foods that you will eat at dinner time.

If we want to keep our weight off then we also have to come to grips with that dreaded activity called exercise. You don’t need to run out and join a gym and go nuts with it but you will need to increase your physical activity. This can be done with something simple like going for walks or riding a bike.

If it has been a while since you exercised then just start out slow. Maybe start taking about a ten minute walk everyday and slowly increase it until you are walking at least 30 – 45 minutes every day. Just that small amount of exercise will do wonders for your ability to keep your weight off for the long haul.

While there is no such thing as instant weight loss you can lose weight fairly quickly if you use a healthy diet plan. Be wary of any plan that claims that you will lose huge amounts of weight very quickly. Some of these plans may not be safe and can do you more harm than good. After you have dropped the pounds off with your healthy diet plan then all you have to do to maintain that weight loss is keep eating healthier and get a little exercise every day.

I sincerely wish you all the luck and I know that you can do it.
